Who makes your book

Harry Gardiner founded Colour Your Family and runs it from London through his company, Lime Creations Limited. He oversees every book we make: each page is checked by hand next to your photos before it’s printed, and each book is checked against its order before it’s posted.

Why we made it

Children love pictures of themselves and the people they know. Give them a colouring book where every page is their own family (Grandma in the garden, a sister on the swings, the dog asleep on the sofa) and they’ll stick with it far longer than with a shop-bought one. It gives the grown-ups something to do alongside them, too.

Turning a photo into a line drawing is easier than it used to be. Getting every page right is the hard part, along with printing a book that feels worth keeping and making sure it reaches the right family. That’s where we put our effort.

How we make every book

• You see it first. Every page is in a free preview before you pay, and you can swap any photo.
• A person checks every page. After you order, one of our team looks at each page next to your photos, and checks the spelling on your cover, before anything is printed.
• Printed to keep. Your A4 portrait book is printed on one side of 150gsm paper, with a 300gsm card cover, and posted flat in a plain brown, board-backed envelope.
• Checked again at packing. We check each book against its order before the envelope is sealed. If anything still goes wrong, our promise is simple: “Right book, right family, or we reprint it free”.

How we look after your photos

Family photos are usually full of children, so we treat every photo as if it were a photo of a child.

• We remove location details from each photo as soon as it’s uploaded.
• Photos are stored encrypted and are never made public.
• Every photo is checked for anything unsuitable for a children’s book.
• We never use your photos to train AI or for face recognition, and we never use your book in our marketing.
• Your original photos are deleted 14 days after your book is posted, and you can delete them sooner from your order page.

Our privacy policy names every company that handles your data and says how long we keep everything.

We’re a small team based in the UK, not a big print factory. We print and pack every book ourselves. We read every order, and when you email us, one of us will reply. Get in touch.
