Terms of sale
These terms explain how buying a personalised colouring book from us works. In short: you see every page before you pay, a person checks every page before printing, a paid order can’t be cancelled because it’s made just for you, and if anything arrives wrong, faulty or damaged, we put it right.
1. About us
Colour Your Family is a trading name of Lime Creations Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 08816195. Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, and our VAT number is GB330072354. We make, print and pack every book ourselves in the UK.
You can contact us by email at help@colouryourfamily.com or by post at the address above. A real person replies within two working days.
2. Making your book
- You upload between 8 and 20 photos, choose a line style and add a cover title and optional dedication.
- We turn each photo into a colouring page and show you a free, watermarked preview of the whole book. You can swap photos before you order (up to 10 replacements per order).
- Please check your preview carefully, including the spelling of your cover title and dedication. We check them too, but the preview is what we print.
- Line art made from photos is an interpretation, not a photograph. Small differences from the original photo are part of the style and are not a fault.
3. Your photos
- You must be 18 or over, and you must be the parent or guardian of any child pictured, or have permission from everyone in the photos.
- You must own the photos or have the right to use them. Don’t upload photos of celebrities, branded characters or other people’s artwork.
- We won’t make pages from photos that are unsuitable for a children’s book (for example nudity, including bath-time photos, or violence), and we may cancel and refund an order that breaks these terms.
- You keep all rights in your photos. You give us permission to use them only to make, check, print and deliver your book. We delete them on the timetable in our privacy policy, and you can ask us to delete them sooner from your order page.
4. Price and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT. Children’s colouring books are zero-rated for VAT in the UK, so the VAT on the book price, with Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery included, is charged at 0%. The Royal Mail Tracked 24 upgrade and express printing are standard-rated, so their prices include VAT at 20%. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout, including delivery and any extras you choose. One book is £29.97 including Royal Mail Tracked 48 UK delivery; more copies of the same book are 2 copies £40, 3 copies £45 or 4 copies £50. Royal Mail Tracked 24 is £3 more per order and express printing is £10 more per order. Payment is taken by Stripe when you place your order.
5. Our contract with you
Your order is accepted, and a contract between us is formed, when we email you an order confirmation after payment. If we can’t make your book (for example because a photo can’t be used and you don’t replace it), we will tell you and refund you in full.
6. Delivery
We deliver to UK addresses only, by Royal Mail Tracked 48. We aim to print and post your book within 3 working days of your order (the next working day with express printing); delivery then usually takes 2–3 working days by Royal Mail Tracked 48, or the next working day by Royal Mail Tracked 24 if you choose it. Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees, except where we have expressly agreed a date. Full details are on our delivery and returns page.
7. Cancellation and returns
Once you’ve paid, your order can’t be cancelled. Every book is made to your specification from your own photos, so the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply, and we can’t accept returns for a change of mind. Before you pay there is nothing to cancel, and you can change any photo, your title and your dedication in your free preview, so please check it carefully.
This does not affect your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If your book arrives faulty, wrong or damaged in the post, tell us as soon as you can after it arrives and we will reprint it free of charge or refund you.
8. Our guarantee
Right book, right family, or we reprint it free. If your book arrives with the wrong book, a printing fault or damage in the post, we reprint and resend it free of charge. This is in addition to your legal rights.
To protect your privacy we keep your print files for 60 days after dispatch (or longer if you ask us to keep them for reorders, up to 12 months). If you report a problem after we have deleted them, or after you have had your photos deleted, we can no longer reprint the same book, so we will refund you instead.
9. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
10. Safety
The book is stapled and contains a card page to cut out. Please supervise young children while they colour, keep the staples and any cut-off pieces away from babies, and leave the cutting to a grown-up. No pencils, pens or other colouring materials are included.
11. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with anything, email us at help@colouryourfamily.com with your order code, and a real person will reply within two working days.
Tell us what went wrong and, if your book is affected, attach a photo of the problem. We’ll look into it and tell you what we will do to put it right. You can also write to us at Lime Creations Limited, 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ.
If we can’t settle your complaint between us, we’ll tell you in writing. We don’t use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme. You can get free, independent advice from Citizens Advice (citizensadvice.org.uk, 0808 223 1133) in England and Wales, Advice Direct Scotland (0808 164 6000) in Scotland, or Consumerline (0300 123 6262) in Northern Ireland, and you can take a claim to court, for example through the small claims process. The EU online dispute resolution platform no longer covers UK purchases.
12. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the version on our website when you order applies to your order. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or in the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there, and you keep the protection of the laws of the part of the UK where you live.
